High court order to clear Osman Nagar’s stagnant water

Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court on Monday once again directed the Telangana government to purify water from osman Nagar and adjoining areas, keeping in view the risk of spreading water-borne diseases in the area. The colony has been submerged for almost two months.

Syeda Begum, a resident of osman Nagar under Jalpally Municipality, had filed a petition in the High Court against the Telangana government’s inaction in water sanitation for the past 50 days. The petition first came up for hearing on October 28.

Just then, High Court Judge A Abhishek Reddy in his judgment directed the Telangana government to clear the water stagnation in osman Nagar and adjoining areas and take precautionary measures to prevent water borne diseases in the area. Representatives of the Telangana government appeared in the High Court on November 4 to file a reply on the state government’s actions. “Today, the High Court order has come as a relief to more than a thousand families whose homes have been submerged in rainwater and Telangana has turned a blind eye to its plight. The family is forced to live on the sidewalks or with their relatives. Moreover Amjadullah Khan reported that despite the order of the High Court and the Telangana State Human Rights Commission (TSHRC), the government had asked for cleaning rainwater from osman Nagar and surrounding areas in Jalpally Municipality. Petitioner Syeda Begum, whose house was submerged to its roof, said, “My house was submerged due to poor management of the lake. I may now have to completely rebuild my house, but my I don’t have money. The government is responsible for paying me the damages.

osman Nagar residents also alleged that , Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD).KT Rama Rao did not visit the area, but he visit other flood-affected areas.
