Hyderabad: The winter seems a little reluctant to move to the next phase in the city, with daytime temperatures still a few degrees above normal.
On the other hand, the night temperature is slightly below normal. The maximum temperature on Wednesday was 30.5 degrees Celsius, which is 1.7 degrees Celsius above normal, while the minimum temperature was 0.9 degrees Celsius, 13.8 degrees Celsius below normal.
Meteorological officials say strong winds are blowing in the city, and day and night temperatures could rise by one or two degrees.
Because of the strong winds, the temperature in the city will rise by one or two degrees in the next two or three days. The maximum temperature can go up to 32 degrees Celsius. When the north wind blows, the temperature will drop.
Even last year, strong winds battered most parts of December, with the minimum temperature hovering around 18-20 degrees Celsius after December 15. Generally, Hyderabad receive north winds from Himachal Pradesh every year, causing rapid fall at night temperature levels. The lowest was 9.5 degrees Celsius in December 2018, compared to 10.8 in 2017 and 10.9 in 2016.
According to the Telangana State Development Planning Society, the lowest minimum temperature recorded on Wednesday was 11.8 degrees Celsius. It was followed by 12.8 degrees Celsius in Rajendra Nagar and 12.9 degrees Celsius in Macha Bollaram in Alwal.
