Hyderabad: On Tuesday night, a 19-year-old newlywed woman committed suicide by hanging from the ceiling in her in-laws’ house in Chandrayangutta area of Old City.
Firdous Begum -19year old, who got married with Muhammad Iqbal -27 years old on November 5 with full marriage ceremonies, allegedly took extreme step after being harassed by her husband and in-laws.
According to the victim’s father syed jahangir , the harassment started when she know about that her husband had already married another woman and had a daughter.
He also said that Firdous and his family did not know about it.When she questioned her husband for cheating, they started beating and harassing him.
Firdous informed his father about the matter after enduring constant troubles. She could not bear the pain inflicted by her husband and in-laws and killed herself.
Jahangir added that late at night he got a call from his daughter’s in-laws when they shifted the body to the Osmania hospital.
She alleged that her husband and in-laws had fled when the relatives of the victims reached the hospital.
Later, when the family reached near the Chandrayangutta police station at around 2:30 am on Wednesday to lodge a complaint, but the police officer refused to register the complaint.
On Wednesday afternoon, the family staged a protest at the police station and urged the authorities to file a complaint and take immediate action against the victim’s in-laws and husband.
police officials said that they have registered a case for the suspected death of a 19years old woman. The investigation is ongoing.
