Telangana Chief Minister gave a New Year gift on grumbling govt staff

Hyderabad: As a New Year gift, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao announced on Tuesday that he had decided to increase the salaries of all state government employees. He also announced the decision to increase the age of additional retirement and recruitment of additional employees for all government departments.

CM K.chandrashekar rao announced that 9,36,976 government employees will be benefited from the salary increase, which includes aided employees, work-in-charge employees, daily wagers, full-time casual workers, part-time casual workers, homeguards, Anganwadi workers, contract workers, outsourcing Employees, ASHA workers, Vidya volunteers, SERP employees, honorarium and pensioners.

Salaries for TSRTC employees will also be increased and additional burden will be borne by the state government.

Cm also announced that apart from salary hike, raising retirement age, promotion, transfer, creation of simplified service rules, providing all retirement benefits to employees on the day of retirement, bidding them a respectful farewell and compassionate appointments. May be resolved by the end of February.

The Chief Minister announced that vacancies will be recruited in all government departments and agencies from February.

The Chief Minister has constituted a committee under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar headed by Principal Secretary (Finance) Ramakrishna Rao and Principal Secretary of Water Resources Rajat Kumar to examine the service matters of employees and identify vacancies in each department. The committee will study various issues and discuss them with staff unions and submit their report in the second week of January.

The committee will peruse the PRC report in the first week of January and talk to the service associations in the second week. The committee will also look into how to proceed with promotions and overcome legal hurdles in staff matters caused by zonal system. Thereafter, the Cabinet will take a final decision, Mr. Rao said.

The government was committed to the election promise of TRS to enhance the retirement age. Mr. Rao hoped that the staff was relieved of all its service issues which plagued them in combined State by March. He instructed officials to constitute Departmental Promotion Committees to finalise promotions. Compassionate appointments in all departments should be completed.
