Polio immunization program postponed till January 31 in view of covid vaccination campaign

Hyderabad: The Union Health Ministry has postponed the polio immunization campaign to 31 January in view of the COVID vaccination campaign starting from 16 January.
Earlier the polio immunization campaign was scheduled on 17 January.
“A large-scale nationwide COVID-19 vaccination campaign will be launched from January 16, 2021. It will be the world’s largest immunization practice. Therefore, it has been decided by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) in consultation with the office of the President of India to rescheduale the polio vaccination day also known as National Immunization Day (NID) or `Polio Ravivar ‘on 31 January 2021, said the Ministry of Health and family welfare
On January 30, 2021, the President will inaugurate National Immunization Day by feeding children polio drops in Rashtrapati Bhavan.
This decision is in line with the stated policy of the Ministry of Health to ensure that COVID management and vaccination services, as well as non-COVID essential health services, proceed without prejudice to each other.
