Power demand may rise this summer in hyderabad

Hyderabad: Demand for 10 million units of power supply is expected to increase daily in Greater Hyderabad in the coming summer. It is likely to cross 250 million units (MU) per day during peak summers in the state.
However, senior officials said that there would be no shortage in power supply. TSGenco, TSTransco and two power distribution companies are preparing summer action plans to meet peak demand of 260 MU to 270 MU per day.”We are expecting a demand for supply of 14,000 MW power during peak summer and all arrangements are being made to meet this demand. Officials involved in preparing the Summer Action Plan said that power consumption in Greater Hyderabad is expected to touch 73 MU per day compared to 63 MU. “Power consumption was reduced in summer 2020 due to epidemics and lockouts.

All commercial establishments, cinema halls, schools and colleges are expected to be functional in the upcoming summer and agricultural activities, with officials preparing to meet the electricity demand of 260 MUs, including 70 to 80 MUs in the city alone. .
“The shortage in power supply experienced by consumers in the city and elsewhere in the state will be minimized during summer as drastic improvements and pre-heat maintenance works have been taken up. Our effort is to provide uninterrupted power supply to domestic, industrial, commercial and agricultural sectors, ”said Srinivas Reddy, Director (Operations), DISCOM.
