Hyderabad: A 19-year-old woman was found hanging on Wednesday in her house at Kalavati Nagar in Jeedimetla. Fed up with the harassment of her husband and in-laws, she committed suicide.
A woman named B Swapna was married to Venkatesh in June last year and was living in her in-laws. According to police, Swapna committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan in her bedroom around midnight on Tuesday, while her husband was sleeping in the hall.
She was found dead in the morning. Her parents alleged that her husband’s harassment forced her to resort to suicide.she was mentally and physically tortured for the money, adding that Venkatesh is unemployed without income, but wanted money to drink and lead a luxurious lifestyle.
“We did not receive any suicide note. Relatives have filed a complaint alleging dowry harassment, following which a case of harassment and abetment to suicide has been registered against Venkatesh and his family members.
The body was transferred to the Gandhi Hospital morgue and handed over to the family after the autopsy.
