Telangana HC Stays Criminal Case Againsy Asaduddin Owaisi on Assaulting Shabbir Ali in 2016 GHMC Elections.

Hyderabad : Justice A Rajasheker Reddy of the Telangana high court on Friday Stays Hyderabad Police Clean Chit to AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi in Case of Assaulting Congress Leader Shabbir Ali in 2016 GHMC Elections. Based on a complaint against him filed by Congress MLC Shabbir Ali who alleged that Asaduddin Owaisi and his men attacked his car and inflicted injuries on him when he went to the old city to inquire about the Congress leaders in Hussaini Alam police station.

The alleged attack took place in the Puranapul area. The police registered the case and made Asaduddin Owaisi as accused number one and named some of his followers as accused in the FIR. A charge sheet too was filed in the trial court. However, after that, the police took time from the court to file a supplementary charge sheet. They later filed a supplementary charge sheet in the court Mentioning that they found no evidence against Asaduddin and sought the permission of the court to delete the name of Asaduddin Owaisi from the case.

The trial court rejected the police request and their supplementary charge sheet and made it clear that it would commence the trial basing on the Allegations made in the main charge sheet. Shabbir ali in his complaint said that Asaduddin Owais was openly questioning the entry of Congress leaders into the old city. He also threatened us with dire consequences if we dare enter the area again, he Mentioned in his complaint. Asaduddin Owaisi counsel said that there is no evidence that Asaduddin Owais had led the attack. Nor was there any proof that he was there at the site of the offense or to say that he was instrumental in carrying out the physical attack on Shabbir and other Congress leaders.

The judge stayed the criminal case against Asaduddin in the FIR and issued notice to Shabbir asking him to respond to the contentions raised by Asaduddin in the plea. The judge also made it clear that the stay is applicable only to Asaduddin Owaisi and not to others who were named in the FIR. The judge posted the case for three weeks.
