Chakka Jam: Protesters blocked the highway on the outskirts of Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Protesting against the Center’s new agricultural laws, farmer unions and political leaders blocked roads in Hayathnagar on Saturday in support of the country wide protest ‘Chakka Jam’. CPI, CPM and TJS leaders also participated in the protests in favor of the farmers unions.

In view of the protests, the police beefed up security to prevent any untoward incident. They also removed protesters on the highway that dispersed the crowd, causing heavy traffic jams in the area.

Farmers unions announced Countrywide ‘Chakka Jam’ on Monday, February 6 from 12 noon to 3 pm

Farmers in the country have been protesting since 26 November last year after the Central Government enacted three new agricultural laws,which are Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act 2020; Farmers Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and farm services act 2020 and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020.
