Hyderabad: Gang nabbed for smuggling women in Gulf countries

Hyderabad: LB Nagar special operations team on Tuesday busted Al-Hayath Tourl and Travel, Malakpet and arrested four interstate human smugglers and rescued a female victim from trafficking in Oman.

Police seized visa documents, 40 passports belonging to various persons, Rs. 6000 and mobile phones.

According to the police, the main accused has been identified as Mohammad Imtiaz 35 years old, a travel agent and a gang of his fellow accused, who helped him.

The gang is involved in illegal human trafficking trying to send a woman Sheikh Khader bee of medipally to Muscat, Oman, by fraudulently promising to go on visiting visa instead of working on a visa. Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat told a press conference that Imtiaz became acquainted with her through her aunt and knowing her financial problems he started offering her job in the Middle East.

He then arranged for a visa and booked her a flight to Muscat on 2 February.

The victim felt something wrong when the suspects asked her to share pictures on WhatsApp, after which they would pay the promised amount of Rs 30,000. she became suspicious and escaped from the airport.
In addition, the suspects had collected passports from around 40 people, including 12 women and 28 men, to arrange for visa to be sent to various Gulf countries.

They and two other travel agencies were found involved in the racket in Kadapa, and were smuggling women to Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Dubai and Qatar, the police commissioner said.
