Hyderabad: A TSRTC bus conductor attempted suicide by accusing high officials of delaying payment of salaries and harassment. He got himself doused himself with petrol and tried to commit suicide. However, his efforts were thwarted by other TSRTC employees. The staff calmed the conductor and sent him to his home.
Ashok, a bus conductor, native of Shamirpet for the last 14 years at Medchal Bus Depot. He alleged that he was facing severe financial troubles due to delay in payment of salaries. Earlier, the bus conductor staged a sit-in protest demanding timely payment of salary. He said that the minister has assured to give salary till the 5th of every month. However, we are not being paid on time.
They complained that they had been facing harassment from the depot manager, CI and TI-2, since the protests on 16 February.
