Increase in COVID cases in Telangana

Hyderabad: The number of active covid cases continues to increase in Telangana as the state has recorded a lower recovery than new infections during the last 24 hours.
According to the daily media bulletin released by the Health Department on Thursday, the state added 36 active cases during this period.

The total number of active cases now is 1,948, including 835 who were in home / institutional segregation.

The state registered 152 new cases during the last 24 hours.Cumulative tally push to 2,99,406.

Two more people succumbed to the virus, killing 1,637 people. The fatality rate stood at 0.54 % as against the national average of 1.4 percent. While 44.96 % of the deaths were due to covid, 55.04 % had comorbidity.
In more than 25 cases, the maximum number of cases were seen in Greater Hyderabad, Medchal Malakjagiri (11) and Rangareddy (10). No new cases were reported in four districts, while in the remaining 27 districts, the daily count was in single digits.

A total of 114 people were recovered during the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative recovery to 2,95,821. The recovery rate is 98.80 percent against the national average of 97.1 percent.

Health officials conducted 41,201 tests during the same period. 36,003 samples were tested in government laboratories, 5,198 in private laboratories.

According to the director of public health and family welfare, the cumulative number of tests increased to 88,42,852.
The samples tested per million population climbed to 2,37,583. The daily testing target for the state is 5,600 per WHO’s 140 million per day per test standard. More than 92 percent of the beds in hospitals treated for Kovid cases remained vacant.

Out of 8,577 beds in 62 government hospitals, 8,217 beds were vacant. Similarly, 685 beds out of 7,638 in 216 private hospitals were empty.
