Hyderabad: Gold seized at the airport

Hyderabad: On Wednesday, customs officials at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) detained three passengers in three separate cases and seized gold, foreign cigarettes and a live round from their possession.
In the first incident, Amtul H Mohammed of Hakimpet, a passenger who arrived at the airport from Dubai by a Flydubai Airlines flight (FZ 8779), concealed gold-paste pouches weighing approximately 1.6 kg inside his clothing.

She opted for a green channel in the customs investigation area, indicating that she was not carrying any suspicious items. Customs stopped her and recovered gold worth Rs 74 lakh.

In the second incident, during the early hours of Wednesday, personnel of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) intercepted a passenger, Abdul Aziz K (41) from Kerala, who arrived in an Etihad Airways flight (EY 274) from Abu Dhabi.

As Abdul was behaving in a suspicious manner, CISF personnel rushed inside the airport and found 200 cigarette packets worth Rs 4 lakh in his possession. Abdul Aziz was handed over to Customs for further investigation.
In the third incident, a live round was found in a passenger’s check-in baggage.

The passenger was immediately detained for questioning and handed over to the RGIA police
