HMWSSB to speed up 20 kl free water scheme

Hyderabad: On tuesday, Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) managing director(MD) and hyderabad metropolitan water supply directed all general managers to fix 300 water meters per month.

Organizing a review meeting with all Water Board officials on the progress of the 20,000 free water scheme, managing director Dana Kishore said, “Steps should be taken to expedite the implementation of the 20,000 per month free water supply scheme.”

He also directed the officers to provide facility to link their customer account number (CAN) with Aadhaar as per the guidelines issued by the state government.

He said that biometric devices are being installed for section offices in the city. “A door-to-door campaign will be launched in the city so that consumers can take at least six months of water bill and link their Aadhaar with their CAN in nearby meeseva centers and people who do not have water the meter must apply for Meter.

“Those who do not have a water meter and people whose water meter is not functional will not be eligible to avail 20,000 liters per month of freewater supply. Only after the installation of meter for water connection only can one avail of the free water scheme,” said Dana Kishore.

He further instructed all the officials to take steps to ensure the installation of water meters in the city and ensure that all water meters are functional.
