Telangana government can promote all students of classes 1-8 without conducting examinations

Hyderabad: Due to the increase in coronavirus cases in Telangana, the government is considering a proposal to promote all students of classes 1-8 without conducting examinations.
According to sources, Chief Minister of Telangana State. Chandrasekhar Rao may make a declaration in this regard in the state assembly on 22 March.
Recently, a report has shown that the increase in coronovirus cases in the state has turned into new hot spots due to government-run schools.

It may be recalled that educational institutions in the state of Telangana were closed in mid-March, days before the nationwide bandh was implemented. Students of classes 1 to 11 were promoted to the next class without conducting the examination.

For the academic year 2020-21, online classes started from 1 September. Following requests from parents of several students, the authorities decided to reopen schools for physical classes for classes 9 and above. Later, the government allowed the schools to be reopened for Class VI to VIII as well.

However, due to the increase in coronovirus cases in the state, the government is once again considering shutting down educational institutions and promoting all students from classes 1-8 to higher classes without conducting exams.

On Friday, Covid-19 tally of Telangana crossed the 3 lakh mark. After a gap of over two months, the state saw the daily count climb to over 300. More than 150 students, teachers and other staff of about 10 schools have tested positive during the last 4-5 days.
