Hyderabad: One person died on the spot and his friend was injured when car was driving went out of control and crashed on to electric pole at Aziz Nagar in Moinabad on the outskirts of the city on Wednesday. The accident occurred due to drunk driving.
The victim was identified as Akhil Reddy 22 years old while his friend Sandeep Reddy 23 years old, both students of Aziz Nagar and working part time in different private companies.
According to Moinabad police, Akhil and Sandeep were returning to Aziz Nagar from Bakram village on the outskirts of the city. The car, which was reportedly driven at high speed, went out of control and crashed into an electric pole on the left side.
Police said, “When Akhil, who was driving the car, died on the spot, Sandeep survived with some fractures.
” However, witnesses have given different versions and it was still unclear whether they were intoxicated at the time of the accident.
“Viscera has been sent to the laboratory for analysis,” an official said, adding that a case of death and injuries due to negligence was reported.
If the autopsy suggests that it was a case of drunk driving, the case would be changed, he said, adding the body was transferred to the morgue of Osmania General Hospital and handed over to the family later in the evening.
