Hyderabad: A gas leak from a chemical factory caused panic among locals in Maruti Nagar in Golnaka, Amberpet on Friday.
According to a report, residents of the area alerted the police and the fire department after smelling pungent.
The smell was from Deccan Chemical Factory. As soon as the information was received, both the fire department and GHMC got into action.
A fire brigade and a team of the corporation reached the spot.
According to officials, a gas reactor was damaged as a reactor was damaged in the chemical factory.
Reactors in the factory contain acidic and chemical substances. It may be mentioned that the factory is surrounded by residential colonies.
After bringing the situation under control, GHMC officials seized the unit. Meanwhile, Amberpet police is investigating the case.
