Hyderabad: Despite no festivals or marriages, chicken prices in Hyderabad were skyrocketing due to a decrease in the supply chain and an increase in demand. The price increase related to poultry transport and bird feed resulted in a sudden increase in price.
On March 28, skinless chicken was sold at Rs 210 per kg and a week after that the price was up to Rs 260 per kg, while some are also charging Rs 270 and Rs 280 per kg.
On the other hand, on March 28, the price of live chicken was Rs 125 and it was increased to Rs 160 this week.
Poultry farmers said that this week the price of chicken will be up to Rs 270.
In view of festivals and weddings, the price of chicken is expected to increase further next month.
Meanwhile, the price of eggs remained the same to give relief to consumers. Last Sunday, Rs 60 per dozen eggs were charged which was the same till this week.
