In a ghastly incident, an engineering student was strangulated to death and her body was dumped in a sump by a relative in kukatpally.
The incident took place on Saturday but came to light on Monday. The victim named Manjula aged 19 a resident of mossapet was in a relationship with a relative named Bhupati who lived at kukatpally and he and he often visited her house.
On Saturday, Bhupathi called Manjula to his house on the pretext of discussing some personal issues,he used a scarf to strangulate her to death after which he dumped her body in a water sump in the house and fled the spot,said T Narsing Rao, SHO (Kukatpally)
Manjula’s family who was searching for her since Saturday approached the police and lodged a missing complaint, on coming to know about this bhupati surrendered before the police and said since childhood his relatives were keen on getting Manjula married to him but over the last few weeks, there were some issues between the two.
He felt she was ignoring him and got angry over it, after which he called her to his house and killed her said, Narsing Rao.
A case under Section 302 (murder) of IPC was registered, after which Bhupathi was arrested.
