HYDERABAD: The accident occurred in the afternoon of April 12. According to fire officials, the fire started in a readymade garment store’s godown located on the first floor of a five-storied building housing commercial establishments and residential flats. Fire tenders from Salar Jung Museum and Gowliguda fire stations were rushed to the spot.
With the premises located on the first floor and only one stair case leading to it, the fire fighters initially faced problems in reaching to the place. However,with more firemen joining the operation it was brought under control.
Tense moments were witnessed with families trapped in the flats on the upper floors rushing out of the houses after noticing the fire on the lower floor of the building. The firemen and local police safely brought them out of the building.
Fire officials suspect that the fire might have started due to a short circuit. However, they are investigating.
