‘Illegal parking’, a never ending problem in Tolichowki

Hyderabad: Passengers find it difficult to use the Tolichowki circle, under the flyover which is the only route for traffic coming from residential areas, including Golconda, Seven Tomb,MD Lines and Hakeempet, to reach Rethibowli and Mehdipatnam or towards Gachibowli on other end. There are two bus-stops under the Tolichowki flyover.

Passenger of buses passes through this route, but often the routes in the buses got stuck as the street is occupied by hawkers.

Although a separate section has been allocated for shops for street vendors under the flyover, so far, none has been able to establish any business in the structures constructed by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC).

Reshma Begum, who travels daily from Gulshan Colony, Seven Tombs Road to Mallepally, said, “I had to take an auto from Seven Tombs Road to reach the bus-stand, it is so uncomfortable and difficult for commuters to even stand at the bus-stop because the entire stretch is taken over by street vendors. There is heavy traffic congestion on the road during peak hours. “
A pedestrian, Mohammad Iqbal, told “It is illegal to park vehicles on the road, but these hotels and restaurants do not bother to tell their customers not to park vehicles on the road, because it causes difficulties for both motorist and pedestrain.

Until GHMC, along with the police department, removed these public property encroachers, and took strict action against hotels, which allow their customers to park vehicles in illegal parking zones, these issue did not resolved said by Syed Zubair, a resident of Hakimpet

Recently, to provide easy and safe traffic to the common man, the Town Planning Department of GHMC had removed all encroachments of shop-owners as they occupied the road for parking or to keep their products. But, again, they have rebuilt a platform on the public road, so that they again use the space in front of their shops as parking
