To wash off her bad luck, woman killed her six month old daughter

Hyderabad: On Thursday, a 32 years old woman in Suryapet in Telangana cut her six-month-old daughter’s throat to wash off her bad luck.

This comes only months after a superstitious couple in Andhra Pradesh’s Madanapalle killed their two grown-up daughters in a brutal manner.

The incident took place in Mekalapati Tanda of Mothe Mandal, where the accused, identified as Banoth Bharti, committed the crime under the influence of his superstitions.

A BSc, B.Ed graduate, Bharti is known as a religious woman and believes she was cursed for ‘Nag Dosh’ (an evil omen).

To get rid of the bad evil omen, according to sources,Bharti often performed several difficult rituals.
When she gave birth to a child, she worshiped more and performed Havan. After a while, she came under the presumption that if she sacrifices her child, the curse will go away.

On Thursday morning, when her husband and other family members were not present, she began the ritual.

“Some idols of the gods were placed on the dressing table. The child was then placed in front of the mirror and his throat was cut.” The police also said that Bharti called her relative after the sacrificial ritual to confess her murder.

The woman is currently under police custody.
