Government of Telangana decide to set up 5 oxygen plants around Hyderabad

Hyderabad: With the country struggling with a massive oxygen crisis due to an increase in COVID-19 cases, the Telangana government decided to set up five oxygen plants in and around Hyderabad.

Oxygen plants will be set up in Siddipet, Sangareddy, Medak districts, including Gajwel and Jogipet.

Officials on Thursday inspected the land to establish plants that would become available within three months.

Currently, the state is procuring oxygen from Odisha. Telangana on Tuesday received 60.23 metric tonnes of liquid oxygen from Odisha.

Oxygen was brought to Telangana in specially arranged trains, which transported it to Hyderabad in a span of 31 hours.

After the oxygen tankers reached Hyderabad, a special green channel was created by the traffic police to reach the tankers at Gandhi Hospital in the shortest time possible.

On Tuesday, tankers from Bala Nagar to Gandhi Hospital covered a distance of about 11.7 km in 15 minutes.
