TSRTC employees want government to start covid treatment at RTC Taranaka Hospital

Hyderabad: Reporting that 50 RTC workers were died during the second wave and about 1,800 workers were undergoing treatment in various hospitals.

TSRTC unions wrote a letter to Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao urging them to start the covid-19 ward at RTC Taranaka Hospital.

They said that they decided to hold a protest on 11 May.

TSRTC unions including Employees Union, Staff Workers Federation, Bahujana Karmika Union, Bahujana Workers Union, RTC Udyogula Sangham leaders collectively wrote a letter to the Chief Minister.

Union leaders wanted the government to start Covid-19 treatment with 100 beds at Taranaka Hospital.

They said that despite repeated requests to convert RTC Hospital to covid-19 Hospital, there has been no response from the management.

EU leader Raji Reddy said that employees are not in a position to pay the medical bills of the private hospital.

Union leaders demanded the government to provide reimbursement to the employees who are undergoing treatment in a private hospital and Rs 50 lakh as compensation to the families of the deceased employees.

They wanted the government to direct 21 days of special casual leave to employees affected by Covid-19.

They wanted RTC drivers and conductors to be provided with sanitizers, masks and face shields and to making available corona kits with oximeters at all dispensaries of the corporation and provide them with vaccines, facilitate isolation at the training college in Hakimpet and maintain 50 percent occupancy in RTC buses.

Meanwhile, unions have decided for protests with black badges at the depot on 11 May.
