Brain surgery an ordeal for doctors due to black fungus cases

Hyderabad: Private and government hospitals in Hyderabad have admitted cases of black fungus, saying 10 out of 100 patients are coming with fungal attacks in the brain.

At the Government ENT Hospital, there are neurosurgeons from Osmania General Hospital who are called to participate in these cases.

There are about five patients in private hospitals who have undergone surgery, but the result has been a challenge.

With black fungus now a notable disease, private hospitals say they are reporting cases to the health department.

A senior doctor at a private hospital, on the condition of anonymity, said, “We had two brain attack cases that were operated on. One of them died and the other is serious.”

Despite the keyhole brain surgery treatment, the results are not better and discussions are being conducted as to how these cases should be handled.
