Two weeks into Lockdown 2.0, police get stricter in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: As the city entered the 14th day of the lockdown on Tuesday, police continued to strictly enforce the restrictions across the city.

Although the roads were busy with people and vehicles during the four-hour grace period, after 10 am, barricades were erected on the streets and visual policing increased in residential colonies and suburbs adjoining the main roads.


During the waiver period, hundreds of citizens out to the streets to buy groceries, vegetables and other essentials.

Most shops, including Charminar, Kachiguda, Narayanguda, Secunderabad Railway Station Road, Miyapur, Kukatpally, Nampally, Ameerpet, Punjagutta and Begumpet, were jammed and heavy traffic jams were seen at many places.

From 9.50 am, City Police began patrolling the streets with sirens, alerting citizens that it was time to enforce the lockout and require them to return to their homes.

Except for a few junctions, after 10 am, all roads in the city were deserted, with police speeding up the investigation and scrutiny of vehicles.
