Hyderabad: A female government teacher was found dead under mysterious circumstances at her residence at FCI Colony in Vanasthalipuram area of Hyderabad on Monday.
According to reports, Saraswati, who works at Bahadurguda’s ZPH school, allegedly set herself on fire after a fight with her husband Chalam Balakrishna. However, the police is investigating whether there is any foul play.
On the night of 23 May, there was a heated argument between Saraswati and Balakrishna. Balakrishna allegedly attacked his wife with his fist.
The next morning the quarrel continued and Balakrishna beat Saraswati again.
According to the couple’s daughter, Balakrishna told her that he got a call from her college about online classes and asked her to join.
When she went to a room for an online class, her father went to pick up Tiffin and returned a short time later.
The girl told the police that she suddenly heard shouting. When she came out of the room, she saw her mother engulfed in flames and saw that Balakrishna was trying to save her.
They extinguished the fire by fetching water. However, by then Saraswati had died.
According to a report,Balakrishna also suffered from third degree burns. A case of suspicious death has been registered on the basis of the girl statement.
Fire services had to be called because a part of their house caught fire. After overcoming the fire, Saraswati’s body was sent to the mortuary of Osmania General Hospital for postmortem. The police was investigating the incident further.
