Covid19 National Telangana

Telangana will start second dose of covid vaccination from today

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao announced on Monday (May 24) that the COVID vaccination program would resume on Tuesday (May 25), which could provide some relief to those who are awaiting the second dose of the vaccine.

The Chief Minister urged those who had received the first dose of the vaccine and those who were to be given the second dose to visit government vaccination centers in their area.

After a severe shortage of vaccines, the Telangana government halted the vaccination campaign a few weeks ago.

On 16 May, the government announced that a second dose vaccination campaign for people over 45 years of age would be halted due to lack of covaxin vaccine and new supplies from the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Due to supply shortages, it has already stopped the first dose of the vaccine and has not yet started giving it to people between 18 and 44 years of age.

Those who wanted to take the first injection will have to wait a bit longer because those who are waiting for their second shot will be given priority.

The Chief Minister asked Finance Minister T Harish Rao to formulate new guidelines and organize special vaccination camps for them to identify covid-19 Super Spreaders, while directing officials to start a second dose vaccination program.
