Cyberabad police will patrol the city on the e-scooter amid the lockdown

Hyderabad: Amid the ongoing COVID-19 lockdown in Telangana, police officers of Cyberabad Police Commissionerate will patrol on electric scooters in Hyderabad.

20 electric scooters donated by electric mobility company Hala Electric Bike to Cyberabad Police will be used to ensure that the COVID protocol is being followed across the city.

Cyberabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar appreciate the company’s move and appealed to the people to follow the lockdown.

The company has given electric scooters as an appreciation of the efforts and to express gratitude to frontline police officers and on-field police personnel working round the clock to ensure the safety of people amidst the coronavirus epidemic.

Electric scooters are capable of running up to 50 km with a three-hour charge at a speed of 25 km per hour.

In the light of rising coronavirus cases, a statewide lockdown was announced on May 12 from 6 am to 10 pm. It will remain till May 30.

Earlier on Thursday, the city’s Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar said that 99 percent of the city’s population is following the lockdown protocol.

According to data from the Union Ministry of Health, there are currently 38,267 active COVID-19 cases in the state. So far, a total of 5,26,043 have been cured and 3,207 deaths have been done.
