Vaccination for Journalist in Hyderabad, take these documents to get jab

Hyderabad: As India is on a strong vaccination campaign, many states have identified journalists as frontline activists for getting vaccinated on a priority basis.

The Telangana government launched a special campaign to vaccinate journalists on May 28 and May 29, but the ground reality looked different.

Many scribes in Hyderabad expressed concern that they did not have the accreditation to receive the jab as part of a special campaign.

But Commissioner of Telangana I&PR Department Arvind Kumar, IAS has issued clarification and instructions on how all journalists can get the jab.

After receiving reports that accredited journalists or members of clubs like the Press Club of Hyderabad were being allowed to vaccinate, those on desk duty were not given.

Soon after voicing concern, Kumar, IAS, directed that all the journalists would be vaccinated on Saturday, but they should have their official documents.

Kumar tweeted, “Please bring your office ID card and Aadhaar copy tomorrow and you will be vaccinated. All other journalist colleagues can come with their ID and Aadhaar tomorrow and get vaccinated.”

While this comes as a relief to journalists in the state, data from the Institute of Perception Studies showed that 57 percent of journalist deaths occurred without accreditation which until now was a criterion to vaccinate journalists.

Details:

All scribes of Hyderabad can visit scheduled immunization centers with their Aadhaar card and office ID card to get a jab.

Vaccination is being done at five vaccination centers from 10 am to 4 pm.
