Lab technician arrested for issuing fake RT-PCR report

Hyderabad: 26-year-old lab technician Selli Kiran Kumar, who cheated a family by issuing fake RT-PCR test report claiming to be original, has been arrested by Jawahar Nagar Police of Rachakonda Commissionerate.

Investigation revealed that without sending samples to any lab,he prepared a fake RT PCR report by editing the old medcis Pathlabs RT PCR PDF report and sent it to the family.

According to police, being a lab technician helped him get acquainted with the victim’s family a few years back.

The victim Dhami Reddy Sunil Kumar and some members of his family showed symptoms of covid-19 and contacted Kiran Kumar.

“Kiran collected swab samples of the victim and her family for RT-PCR tests and charged Rs 1,000 for each sample. Two days later, Kiran sent the report on social media and informed that Reddy and his family had All members have tested negative. ” Police said.


However, the victim’s wife Naga Lakshmi and daughter Yashvi showed covid-19 symptoms and called Kiran again for a second time.

This time he collected samples again and sent reports that he had tested positive. Meanwhile, Naga Lakshmi complained of stomach ache and Reddy called Kiran, who brought two doctors to his home and collected blood samples.he charged Rs 7,500.

When the home quarantine was completed, Reddy questioned the Medcis PathLab and was told that his sample had not been examined. He realizes that he has been cheated on. He lodged a complaint with the Jawahar Nagar Police, who registered a case and investigated and arrested the accused on Friday.

Rachakonda Commissioner of Police Mahesh M. Bhagwat appealed to the public to conduct tests in government testing centers and ICMR-recognised private testing centers.
