Constable suspended for beating a man with a stick

Hyderabad: city police on Sunday taken action against constable KN Shiv Kumar of Bhawaninagar after he was beaten up local youth.

They were suspended and attached to CAR headquarters until further orders.

According to sources in the department, after being “beaten” by Kumar, Mohammad Ashraf suffered from serious injuries to his face.

Police patrolling on Saturday evening saw some children roaming on bikes in Talab Katta area.When the police tried to stop them, they ran away.

This stirred the constable on duty. He allegedly beat up the youth for violating the lockdown norms.

While they were fleeing to save themselves, Kumar threw a ‘lathi’ at one of them, causing Ashraf a serious injury near his left eye.

As soon as the incident was reported, the local people gathered in large numbers and staged a protest at the police station.

They demanded strict action against the constable. When the crowd dispersed, the young man was taken to the hospital.

Officer-in-charge Bhawaninagar assured that the incident would be investigated.

Commissioner of Police Anjani Kumar has sought clarification from the SHO, suspending the constable with immediate effect.
