Former Chief Secretary CV Prasad, wife passed away

Hyderabad: Former Andhra Pradesh chief secretary SV Prasad and his wife Srilakshmi died on Tuesday while undergoing treatment for COVID-19 at a private hospital in Hyderabad. Prasad was 69, while his wife Srilakshmi was 65.

The couple was admitted to hospital a few weeks ago for treatment with their children.

Prasad breathed his last on Tuesday morning and within a few hours his wife Srilakshmi also breathed his last.

Sources said Prasad got infected with the virus thrice in the past one year, and developed complications despite getting a double dose of vaccination.

Prasad was always known as a soft-spoken gentleman with a smiling face and incredible patience. He held important positions during the tenure of several Chief Ministers including N Janardhan Reddy, K Vijayabaskar Reddy, N Chandrababu Naidu and YS Rajasekhara Reddy.

He was a non-controversial civil servant loved by all the chief ministers of his time.

He completed his MBA from IIM-Ahmedabad, before joining Government service as a Sub-Collector at Gudur in Nellore district.

After this he held many responsible positions with full devotion and enthusiasm. He also served as the collector of the districts of Kadapa and Visakhapatnam.

Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu condoled Prasad’s demise and recalled his association with the former civil servant. He described the latter as a committed and disciplined officer whose contribution in the successful implementation of several government programs was commendable.

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao expressed grief over the demise of Prasad and his wife. He expressed his condolences to the bereaved family members.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy and former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu also expressed grief and sorrow over the demise of Prasad and his wife Lakshmi.
