Two doctor siblings drowned in shamirpet lake;Hyderabad.

HYDERABAD: Two doctor siblings were found dead in Shamirpet lake on Monday morning. Shamirpet police said the brothers may have undertaken a risk of journey into the waters and drowned. The deceased have been identified as Goutham (28), an Ayurvedic doctor in Bihar, and his younger brother Nandan (26), a doctor at a private hospital in Alwal. Police said Goutham came to Hyderabad to see his brother a week ago and on Sunday evening, the brothers went for hanging out on a motorcycle.

It seems Nandan first ventured into the waters. Perhaps, on seeing his brother getting drowned, Goutham may also have entered the lake to save Nandan. This we are assuming as Goutham was fully clothed along with his footwear when his body was fished out from the lake,” Shamirpet inspector V Sudheer Kumar said. Police claimned the brothers did not know how to swim.

On Sunday night, some visitors at the lake found a cellphone, a pair of slippers and clothes close to the lake bed. Suspecting foul play when the person did not return for a long time, they called ‘Dial 100’ at around 8 pm. Cops reached the spot and began search operations. Based on a complaint from Nandan’s friends, Alwal police also booked a missing case.

Since it was night by the time police came to know about the incident, full-fledged search operations were taken up on Monday morning. Expert swimmers were deployed. The bodies were retrieved and their bike was also traced. Police said their family members in Bihar were informed about the incident.

Police said Goutham was a residential of Bihar and working in Varanasi. Though there were reports that it could be a case of suicide, police ruled this out based on the circumstantial evidence.
