Huge drug amount cannabis;ganja seized worth Rs 15 crore in Hyderabad.

HYDERABAD: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) busted a major ganja network and seized 2,000 kilos of ganja worth Rs 15 crore. Four drug trafficker from Osmanabad in Maharashtra were arrested. The contraband sourced from Andhra-Odisha border was meant for sale in Pune and Mumbai, NCB officials said.

By tracking the suspects from Osmanabad in Maharashtra, NCB’s Hyderabad sub-zonal unit made the highest quantity seizure of ganja at Pedda Amberpet on the outskirts of Hyderabad on Sunday night.

The peddlers hides the ganja beneath layers of raw cashew nut shells and packed them in sacks to give an impression to law enforcement agencies that the cargo they were transporting was not contraband.
The NCB team intercepted the truck carrying sacks of ganja at Pedda Amberpet toll plaza and seized a little over 2,000 kilos of ganja. Officials said the peddlers concealed the contraband in 1,080 sacks. “Each sack has two kilos of ganja compressed into the shape of a brick. The suppliers operating from AOB use the method of compression to maximise ganja transportation,” said an NCB official.

The four peddlers have been identified as K Kale, S Kale, C Kale and B Dhoralkar. During the interrogation, the four accused confessed that they were transporting the ganja to Pune for retail sale in Mumbai and Pune.
Ganja from AOB is smuggled across India and some times even abroad, said an NCB official.
