Telangana commemorates National Handloom day-2021

Hyderabad: The Telangana government celebrated National Handloom Day on Saturday, with IT Minister KT Rama Rao inaugurating a week-long handloom exhibition.
The exhibition cum sale features ethnic, handloom weaves from places like Pochampally, Narayanpet, Gadwal, etc in Telangana, in addition to having stalls from various other states.

Being conducted under the aegis of Shailaja Ramaiyer, Commissioner of Handlooms and Textiles, the exhibition is being held at People’s Plaza in the city.
Emphasising the State government’s commitment towards handlooms, Rao said: “The Telangana Government is committed towards enabling the growth of handloom weavers in the State. In 2013, in the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh, the State budget for handlooms and textiles was Rs. 70 crore but after Telangana was formed, Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao increased the budget to Rs.1,200 crore. This is testimony to the government’s commitment to the weavers.”
