Hyderabad: A city-based advocate was duped of Rs 9.26 lakh by cyber fraudsters. The woman advocate, a resident of Medipally, was contacted by a woman who is suspected to be from Nigeria a few weeks ago through Facebook.
The fraudster told the advocate that she needed her service with regard to a case and that she was ready to pay a huge fee for the job. The advocate agreed and got details from the fraudster.
On pretext of a processing fee ‘mandated by their company’, the fraudster collected around 12000$ through bank transfer on various instances from the victim. However she did not get back the work or other money as assured by the fraudster.
On realizing that she was duped, the victim approached the police and lodged a complaint. A case has been registered and investigation is on.
