Hyderabad:Two gates of himayat sagar lifted as water level rises.

Hyderabad: With water levels rising in the Himayat Sagar, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) opened two gates of the reservoir on Tuesday.
According to HMWS&SB records by 11 am, the water level at Himayat Sagar was recorded at 1,763.15 feet against the FTL of 1,763.50 feet. Rains that have been lashing the State have resulted in heavy inflows into the Himayat Sagar and by 11 am the inflow stood at 2,000 cusecs.

HMWS&SB along with the Revenue department, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation and the police have alerted the people in downstream areas. HMWS&SB also issued a red alert when the water level touched 1,762.75 feet and opened the gates when the water level crossed to 1,763 feet.
The reservoir capacity is 2.97 TMC and by Tuesday morning, the water level stood at 2.837 TMC.
