As heavy rain lashes hyderabad,four gates of osmansagar lifted.

HYDERABAD: With arrival of heavy inflows into Osmansagar (popularly known Gandipet) reservoir due to incessant rains, four of 15 floodgates of the reservoir were lifted by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) on Saturday at around 3.30pm.
Officials of the HMWS&SB told TOI that four floodgates were lifted by one foot to release 200 cusecs of surplus water into River Musi river, after the reservoir has received huge amounts of flood water from its catchment areas.
According to the officials, for the first time in this monsoon, two floodgates of the reservoir were opened on July 22, and then closed on July 25, after inflows into the reservoir, declined.
Osmansagar reservoir has been filled up to 1,788.95 feet, against the FTL of 1,790 feet. Meanwhile, HMWS&SB officials have alerted Hyderabad district administration to evacuate people from low-lying areas.
The officials have closed two out of four floodgates of Himayatsagar, due to inflows into the reservoir, have steadily declined.
