Two Tested Positive for Omicron in India.

Bengaluru : Two Omicron New Covid19 Variant Cases Detected in Karnataka Says Centre , The traveler who tested positive in California was fully vaccinated and had recently returned from South Africa. A 35-year-old woman who arrived in Hyderabad from the UK has tested positive for coronavirus, a senior official said on Thursday. The woman has been isolated at Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (TIMS) and her samples have been sent for whole genome sequencing to ascertain if she was infected by Omicron, the new variant of Covid-19. Director of Public Health, Dr. G. Srinivasa Rao told reporters that the health condition of the woman is good and she does not have any symptoms.


The Serum Insitute of India (SII) has sought approval for its Covid-19 vaccine- Covishield as a booster dose. This comes after the heavily mutated Omicron variant is rapidly becoming dominant in South Africa, in less than four weeks after being identified there. In the past 24 hours, India has recorded 9,765 Covid-19 cases, a slight increase from Wednesday
