City Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar was quoted by Telangana Today as saying that the city ranks 18th when it comes to crime rate at the national level.
There has been a significant dip in property and bodily offences, including thefts, robberies etc. Even in terms of grave offences like murder, Hyderabad can be considered safer than other cities, he added.

the conviction rate in the city has also increased from 23 percent to 49 percent with some major convictions, particularly in POCSO cases.Anjani Kumar revealed that this has been achieved only because of the city police, who have been constantly keeping track of crime cases and addressing them in the best possible way to maintain proper order in the city. Other than this, monitoring criminals, improved patrolling, detaining repeat offenders under the PD act, in addition to the use of technology and CCTV cameras have all contributed to the decreased rate of crime in the city.
