Hyderabad : In a Shameful Case a 60 year-old man from Mumbai was arrested in Hyderabad for trying to buy a 14-year-old girl for Rs 3 lakh from her family. Eight others, including the minor’s mother and grandmother, were also arrested on Sunday night from Balapur in Telangana’s Ranga Reddy district.
According to the police, the accused, 61 Year old Syed Althaf Ali, was looking for someone to take care of him. He had divorced his wife six years ago. Some common friends introduced him to auto driver Akeel Ahmed from Balapur, who helped him find the minor girl.
In the first meeting with the minor’s grandmother and mother, Ahmed and the other accused offered them Rs 5 lakh to part with the child. But the deal didn’t work out as Ali did not want to pay more than Rs 3 lakh.
However, the girl’s family fell into financial trouble and facing Poverty like Situatiin after their uncle had an accident. The mother then agreed to sell the minor girl for Rs 3 lakh, police said.
When Ali reached the home of one of the co-accused in Balapur to finalise the deal, the police arrested him and the eight others for trying to buy a minor girl.
All the accused were booked under IPC sections 370, 370 (A) r/w 511, Section 17 of the POCSO Act and Section 3&5 of Immoral Traffic Prevention Act (PITA).
