GHMC Took an Initiative of Repairing The 6 Lakes

HYDERABAD : Due to the recent Flood Calamity 6lakes/tanks which had been ruptured are in critical condition and will be repaired by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC). The total cost: Rs 41.48 crore.

On Saturday, a report was submitted by 15 Flood Management groups emphasizing the other damages suffered by water bodies. As per the report, 14 tanks — including Pedda Cheruvu, Mamidla Kunta, Kotha Kunta,, Bageerathamma Cheruvu, Ananthagani Kunta and Shahtam Cheruvu — have ruptured. This apart, the washout gates of 27 tanks and bunds of 32 tanks have been damaged while 31 barriers have taken a hit. Water outlets and connecting nalas of lakes have also been damaged, in the recent floods, it stated.

“The 15 flood Management groups reviewed 192 lakes in GHMC limits and Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority HMDA limits. To repair the damaged lakes Rs.9.84 crore is required to take up emergency works and Rs.31.64 crore is the estimate for permanent works,” read a statement issued by GHMC.
