‘Modi deserves thanks from the nation for…’: Subramanian Swamy

BJP leader Subramanian Swamy expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for conferring the Bharat Ratna upon former Prime Minister P V Narasimha Rao, widely acknowledged for introducing economic reforms in the 1990s.

Swamy also criticized Manmohan Singh, stating, “It should have been done by Manmohan Singh, but he did not have the nerve to do it.”

This comes at a time when Subramanian Swamy is usually seen criticizing PM Modi on various issues.

Subramanian Swamy Targets PM Modi

On various recent occasions, Subramanian Swamy has been observed targeting PM Modi.

Recently, ahead of the inauguration of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, he wrote, “Modi is muscling into the Prana Prathishta Puja, when his PM status is a zero in the Puja, nor has he followed Bhagwan Ram in his personal life especially in his behaviour to his wife, nor he has acted as per Ram Rajya as PM during the last decade.”

Earlier, he alleged, “Modi is known for abandoning his wife.”

On his social media handle, Subramanian Swamy wrote, “How can we Ram bhakts allow Modi to join the performing of the Pran Prathishta Puja of the Ram Lala murti in Ayodhya, when Ram spent almost one and half decades, and waged a war, to rescue his wife Sita? Modi is instead known for abandoning his wife, and yet he will do the puja?”

Bharat Ratna for Narasimha Rao

On Friday, it was announced that former Prime Ministers P V Narasimha Rao and Chaudhary Charan Singh, a champion of the farmers’ cause, along with Green Revolution pioneer Dr M S Swaminathan, will be conferred with the Bharat Ratna.

The announcement was made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, days after the Centre named former Bihar Chief Minister Karpoori Thakur, a champion of backward empowerment, and L K Advani, a founding BJP member credited with charting the course of its rise through the 1990s, for Bharat Ratna, the country’s highest civilian honor.
