Hyderabad: The Telangana government has declared a holiday for all women employees in the state on Monday on the occasion of International Women’s Day.
On the instruction of Chief minister chandrashekhar Rao, Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar issued an order on Sunday declaring March 8 as a special casual holiday for all women employees, as it is being observed as International Women’s Day.
Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan and Chief Minister Chandrashekhar Rao have congratulated the women on the occasion of International Women’s Day.
The Governor said in his message, “Our heritage, culture and traditions have respected and worshiped them as Goddess Shakti.”
“It is high time that we truly assimilate and implement the spirit of gender equality and promote women in decision-making in all walks of life for a more equal and inclusive world,” she said.
The Governor said that International Women’s Day is an occasion to celebrate and emulate the success of women on various occasions.
“From family care to nation building, women are always almighty. I salute the spirit of sacrifice and bravery shown by women during the covid-19 epidemic as care giver and front-line warriors”.
The Governor said, “Let us all pledge and work for the all round development of women and gender equality in the true spirit of International Women’s Day.” Women are competing with men in all fields and doing excellent. Women, who constitute 50 percent of the population, would be surprised if they were given the chance.
He pointed out that the state government is taking a slew of measures to take women on the path of development and progress.
These include setting up SHE teams, pension for old age women, single women and widows, schemes like Shadi Mubarak and Kalyan Laxmi, KCR Kit, increase in salary of ASHA workers, Anganwadi teachers and many other schemes and programs.
