Former Congress leader Ahmed Patel has died after covid complications

Hyderabad: Ahmed Patel, a senior Congress leader who was undergoing treatment at Gurugram hospital after a positive test in Covid 19, breathed his last late Wednesday after failing a multi-organ, his son Faisal confirmed. He was 71 years old.

on wednesday, faisal said in tweet that a Rajya Sabha MP from Gujarat passed away at 3.30 am.

Prime Minister Modi offered his condolences on the death of a former Congress soldier and said that Patel was known for his tough mind and his role in strengthening the Congress party would always be remembered.

Congress President Sonia Gandhi has expressed condolences over the death of a senior party leader, saying she has lost an “irreplaceable comrade, a loyal colleague and a friend” whose entire life was dedicated to the party.

Former Prime Minister and senior Congress leader Manmohan Singh has offered condolences on Patel’s death, calling it an irreparable loss to the Congress. “Ahmed Patel was the most trusted leader of the party and a very good friend of mine,” Singh said.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi condoled the death of a close political adviser to Sonia Gandhi and said that he was a pillar of the Congress party and stood by it in its most difficult period.

Several leaders, including Priyanka Gandhi and Randeep Singh Surjewala, also took to Twitter to offer condolences.

He wrote to Priyanka Gandhi, “He was a friend who stood by us all, steadfast, loyal, and extremely dependent.”

Patel, who is also the treasurer of the Indian National Congress, tested positive for Covid-19 on October 1 and was admitted to the intensive care unit of Medanta Hospital in Gurugram on November 15.

On October 1, Patel revealed that he had been positively tested for Covid 19, urging all those who came in contact with him in the past to stay away from him.
