Hyderabad : On the Direction direction of Telangana High Court, the State Government on Monday appointed DIG rank IPS officer Shahnawaz Qasim as the new CEO of State Wakf Board.
Shahnawaz Qasim belongs to 2003 IPS batch and has been allotted to Telangana cadre during the bifurcation of the united Andhra Pradesh. Hailing from Bihar, Mr. Shahnawaz had also served as Deputy Commisioner of Police, East Zone, Hyderabad, before being transferred to Khammam as the SP.
He has earlier worked as CEO Telangana State wakf board for a short time . Last Month Telangana High Court made some Critical remarks about State Wakf board CEO Mohammed Qasim for his alleged inefficiency in protecting the wakf properties from land Grabbers.
The court Expressed Anger on the Wakf board and observed that prima facie it seemed like the board’s CEO was hand in glove with the land grabbers. The Court asked the Telangana government to replace the CEO and find someone to replace him who would be able to save the properties
