Hyderabad: The Malkajgiri Special Operations Team under the Rachkonda Police Commissionerate arrested two people for the black marketing of the antiviral drug amphotericin B liposome injection used in the treatment of the black fungus.
Police said in a statement on Tuesday that those arrested have been identified as 31 years old Thokala Avinash and 34 year old Alwala Venkatesh.
Both have been taken into custody, while a third accused in the case, Narender, is also absconding. According to the police, he was the supplier of the drug.
Police have recovered four vials of amphotericin B liposome injection 50 mg (Ambillion 50), two cell phones and two vehicles, four wheeler and two wheeler from the possession of the accused.
Amphotericin B liposome injection demand has increased significantly among the second wave of Covid-19.
Both the arrested persons along with the seized property have been handed over to Uppal Police Station for necessary action.
