50 People Died and Rs.5000 Crores Damage due to Rains in Telangana.

Hyderabad : Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao Review meeting On Floods Says Rs 5000 crore damage due to rains in Telangana, asks centere to give immediate assistance of Rs 1350 crore.

Electricity dept suffered a loss of Rs 5 CR 101 Tanks were breached. 26 Tank bunds damaged, It is estimated the loss for the water resource department was Rs 50 Cr. Panchayat roads were damaged at 475 places, roads breached at 269 spots, loss of Rs 295 Cr.

50 people died among them 11 from Hyderabad. Crops in 7.35 Lakh acres in the State was submerged. Even if there is 50% of damage to crops, the loss would be tune of Rs 2000 Crore. Under GHMC limits for the first time after 1916. 31 cm of rain was recorded.

On relied measures -Rice, pulses, essential commodities, food and three Quilts per house – Rs 5 Crore to the GHMC for the relief works -Rs 5 Lakh as compensation each to the members of the deceased families -houses would be built and for those lost homes. 20,540 houses in 144 colonies at 72 places were trapped with the floodwater. 35,000 families were affected. Flood affect was more in LB Nagar, Charminar, Secunderabad and Khairatabad Zones. In Hyderabad 14 houses were totally damaged and 65 houses partially.

State has been lashed by unprecedented rains in the past three days, claiming 30 lives, affecting normal life and damaging standing crops in thousands of acres in the State.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who spoke with Chandrashekhar Rao on Wednesday and inquired about the situation, has assured of all help to the State.
