Hyderabad: Director of Public Health (DPH),On wednesday Dr. G. Srinivas announced the rates of RT-PCR tests to diagnose Covid-19 will now be available at a cheaper price. He said that the rates for private laboratories from 2,200 to Rs. 850. He also pointed out that the sample charges collected at the house have also been reduced from Rs. 2,800 to Rs. 1,200.
Price of consumable has fallen in the market. Be it the cost of testing kits or PPE kits; Both are testing cheaper than ever before. We wanted to benefit people. No lab can charge more than the newly announced amount, and prices include PPE kits and so on. Dr. Srinivas said.He also said that the new prices announced are the lowest in the country.
People are advised to take advantage of the official testing facilities for free Covid-19 testing. Government facilities where RT-PCR tests are conducted include Gandhi Medical College, Osmania Medical College, Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS), Sir Ronald Ross Institute of Tropical and Communicable Diseases, Institute of Preventive Medicine , ESIC Medical College, Center for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB), DNA Fingerprint and Diagnostics at Lallaguda, Railway Hospital. They are all located in Hyderabad.
